Vertical and horizontal
CMT has one of the widest arrays of CNC turning machines of any U.S. machine shop. Recent investments in both vertical and horizontal turning apparatus have exponentially expanded our turning capacities. From the smallest 1/2 inch bar stock to the largest casting weighing up to many thousands of pounds, we have the work center in-house.Bar fed machines work on 1/2 inch diameter to 4 inch diameter parts, fasteners, bolts; whatever can be conceived of coming from a cylinder.
Dual spindle machines do double duty with automated bar feed and loading for chucking. Automation is critical to meet the delivery and price-point objectives of our customers.
Many of our machine centers have full C axis performance, providing live milling, drilling and tapping. Hardinge Precision machines have full 4 axis, and Y axis capability. Time spent moving components from workstation to workstation is lost time and productivity.
The really long runs are placed on our fully integrated robotic work cell with loader and automated feed-back gauging.
When possible, depending on part configurations, we can run operations simultaneously, improving efficiency and lowering unit costs for our customers.
Of course, our largest component workhorses - horizontal lathes with capacities of 31-1/2 inch diameters by 118 inch lengths - are busy turning out cylinders, pipes, rods and connectors daily. VTLs work side-by-side with the HMCs, employing their 98 inch swing and 78 inch height with full C axis, live tooling and 100 HP capabilities to ensure we meet customer's critical precision and delivery requirements.
These state of the art units deliver amazing accuracies for their size under the heaviest cutting conditions. YouJi VTLs are equipped with cross-roller bearings, designed to support the heavy part loads, yet maintain dimensional integrity with low vibration interference.
Many of the machines placed around our 115,000 square foot facility are arranged in cells, delivering the highest efficiency and throughput by simultaneously performing multiple operations.
